About me

Hello. I’m Jessica Jeffrey - clients call me Jess. I'm a BACP-registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist and work with adults (18+) to provide support with navigating psychological distress. I have extensive experience working in an NHS GP practice, and my therapeutic approach is guided by scientifically validated, peer-reviewed research.

Whether you’re swamped by a sense of hopelessness, exhausted from constant rumination, or struggling with low self-worth, I can help. Lots of people come and see me because they aren't the person they once were and are too overwhelmed to know where to start or how to fix it.

I have experience of working with relationship issues, depression, anxiety and navigating difficult life events.

My approach

Here’s how I can help:

We begin with a relaxed, informal session where we have an in-depth conversation. This initial meeting is a safe space to share what’s on your mind, and we can follow up with weekly sessions if you’d like. My goal is to help you feel less overwhelmed and untangle the complex emotions you might be experiencing.

If you’re not sure where to start or what to say, that’s completely fine. I offer a calm, unhurried environment where you can think and explore at your own pace -without judgment or a fixed agenda. There’s no pressure to commit to a long-term plan; you might find that one or two sessions are just right for now.

One of the great things about therapy is that it can help you get to know yourself better. If it feels helpful, we can talk about what you believe about yourself, what might be getting in your way, and how your past has shaped you. Most of all, I’m here to listen with kindness and care - every part of you is welcome.

My experience

As an integrative therapist, I use a blended approach that incorporates Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and CBT. Each approach has its own strengths, and by combining them, I provide space for thoughtful self-exploration, with the option to explore practical, evidence-based techniques if helpful.

Fees and location

I see clients on Thursdays and Fridays at The Grove Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

The Practice has two locations - I work from the one above the Mint Velvet clothing shop, right next door to Bettys café.  Once inside, there are two flights of stairs leading up to the therapy rooms.

Sessions last 55 mins and cost £60.

My working hours are:

  • Thursday 9am to 5pm
  • Friday 8.30am to 2pm

I offer a free 15-minute video consultation to see if my approach suits your needs and if I’m equipped to support your challenges.
